On October 7, 2026, the Embassy of Ukraine in the State of Israel published an appeal to Israelis on the anniversary of the terrorist attack on October 7, 2023. Diplomats addressed the audience almost simultaneously in Hebrew, Ukrainian, and English.

“Ukraine stands shoulder to shoulder with Israel in memory and mourning. We honor the memory of the victims of the terrorist attacks on October 7 and express solidarity and support to their families and the people of Israel,” reads the Ukrainian version of the appeal.

It concludes with the words: “May their memory be blessed.”

In Hebrew, the embassy chose a slightly different, more direct wording: אוקראינה עומדת לצד ישראל בזיכרון ובכאב — literally: “Ukraine stands with Israel in memory and pain.”

This phrase perhaps most accurately conveys the meaning of the brief diplomatic appeal.

For the Israeli reader, the date itself requires no explanation. October 7, 2023, became one of the most tragic dates in the history of the State of Israel: the Hamas attack on the south of the country, mass killings, kidnappings, and the ensuing war changed the life of the country for years.

But in this case, it is also important who exactly is saying these words. Ukraine continues its own full-scale war and faces daily casualties, injuries, destroyed homes, and families who have lost loved ones.

Therefore, today’s appeal from Kyiv to Israel is not just a mandatory diplomatic formula for a commemorative date.

NANews — News of Israel | Nikk.Agency has already reported how the memory of October 7 appears in the Ukrainian-Israeli space not only at the level of official statements. In Ukraine this year, an event was announced RUN 7.10 — “We run and walk together with Israel”, dedicated to the memory of those who died on October 7.

And just two days before the current anniversary, Israeli Minister Zeev Elkin during a visit to Kyiv met with Jewish communities of Ukraine. That meeting also ended with lit candles in memory of those who died on October 7.

Today, the Ukrainian diplomatic mission in Israel has already spoken about this in the language of the country that experienced that tragedy:

“Ukraine stands with Israel — in memory and pain.”

And added the traditional words for Israel, which are spoken here in memory of the deceased:

יהי זכרם ברוך — may their memory be blessed.
