Jewish Fund for the Righteous (Nations of the World) (Jewish Foundation for the RighteousJFR) continues to fulfill its most important mission – to express gratitude and support to the people who risked their lives to save Jews during the Holocaust.

In December 2024, the fund allocated a record amount – $323,700 – for a one-time award to 83 heroes living in 10 countries, including Ukraine. Each of them received $5,500which includes both regular financial support and a one-time bonus.

“We strive to repay at least some of the enormous debt of gratitude to these brave people who showed the greatest humanity in the darkest of times,” – noted Stanley Stahl, executive vice president of the JFR Foundation, in an interview with the publication JNS.

Recipients live in Australia, Belarus, Germany, Hungary, Lithuania, Poland, Romania, Slovakia, Sweden and Ukraine.

Who are the righteous among the nations?

“Righteous Among the Nations” is an honorary title awarded by the Israel Memorial Institute Yad Vashem non-Jews who saved Jews during the Holocaust, putting themselves and their families in mortal danger.

To date, the title of “Righteous Among the Nations” has been received by 27,921 people from 51 countriesincluding 2,673 heroes from Ukraine.

Support goes beyond finances

In addition to one-time assistance, the fund provides its beneficiaries with regular payments that cover such basic needs as food, medicine and heating.

“For these elderly people, our help is not only financial support, but also a symbol that their feat has not been forgotten,” – emphasizes Stanley Stahl.


Jewish Fund for the Righteous: Mission and History

The Jewish Foundation for the Righteous was founded in 1986 in the United States to provide financial assistance to non-Jews who saved Jews during World War II.

The main areas of the fund's work:

  • Financial support for the righteous among the nations.

  • Recognition of the heroism of the righteous through awards and commemorative events.
