Russian forces recently installed a new one observation post in the western part of the Syrian province of Quneitra, located near the border with the Israeli Golan Heights.

The post was created, they said, with the aim of “reducing tensions in the region between Israel and Hezbollah-affiliated groups.”

As a result, the number of Russian posts near the Golan border has increased to 15. Earlier, on April 11, 2024, Russian forces also established two new checkpoints on the border with the Israeli Golan, strengthening their presence in an area strategically important for Israel.

At the same time, Russia, Turkey, Syria and Iran are preparing for another meeting to discuss “normalization of relations between Damascus and Ankara.”

Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov said in an interview propaganda TV channelthat “Turkey is ready to withdraw its troops from Syria, but the details of this process have not yet been agreed upon.” An important meeting within the framework of the “Astana format” took place on January 25, 2024 in Astana, where these issues were discussed with the participation of representatives of all four countries.

Russia’s support for the Bashar al-Assad regime and its allies, including Iran and Hezbollah, poses a serious threat to Israel and the region. Russia’s support for these forces provides them with additional resources and military assistance, which allows them to strengthen their position and enhance their military capabilities. This, in turn, poses a threat to Israel’s security, since Hezbollah and Iran are actively arming themselves and preparing for a possible conflict with Israel.

The situation is complicated by the fact that Russia not only supports these groups, but also avoids condemning their actions. This strengthens the positions of aggressive regimes and can contribute to their further expansion and aggression in the region. Thus, the axis of evil, consisting of Syria, Iran, the Russian Federation and related groups, poses a real threat to stability and security in the Middle East.

In this regard, confronting this axis of evil becomes critically important for ensuring peace and security in the region. Israel, in cooperation with international partners, must actively use all available diplomatic, economic and military means to contain the aggressive actions of these forces.

Russia's and other allies' support for these groups must not be allowed to lead to further expansion of their military influence and a potential escalation of the conflict, which could have catastrophic consequences for the entire region.
