The US Treasury Department on October 11 introduced new sectoral sanctions against Iran's oil and petrochemical sectors in response to Tehran's massive missile attack against Israel.

The US is expanding sanctions against Iran's oil and petrochemical sectors in response to Iran's Oct. 1 attack on Israel, its second direct strike against Israel this year. The new restrictions are being imposed on ten entities in multiple jurisdictions, as well as 17 vessels, due to their involvement in the operations of the National Iranian Oil Company (NIOC), which is already subject to United States sanctions.

In addition, the US State Department is imposing restrictions against six organizations and six vessels for their apparent participation in transactions for the purchase, sale and transportation of oil and petroleum products from Iran.

Overall, these actions target a significant portion of the shadow tanker fleet and illicit operators that transport the Iranian regime's oil for export.
