The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine confirmed discussions on the transfer of the THAAD missile defense system to Ukraine.

At a press conference, Georgy Tikhy said that Ukraine is negotiating with Western allies on the supply of various systems, including the THAAD system. He stressed that there are no prohibitions on discussing weapons and systems that could be transferred to Ukraine. Therefore, negotiations are ongoing about different types of such systems. The THAAD terminal is designed to intercept medium-range ballistic missiles in a high-altitude atmosphere.

Earlier, Deputy Pentagon Speaker Sabrina Singh said that the United States does not plan to deploy the THAAD system in Ukraine to shoot down Russian missiles and drones, similar to Israel. She stressed that these wars, regions and commitments are different and therefore such a step will not be taken.

Thus, Ukraine continues to dialogue with partners on issues of defense and arms supplies. Negotiations on the THAAD system are not prohibited. Various options for transferring such systems to Ukraine are being discussed. It is important to note that the US does not plan to deploy THAAD to Ukraine to defend against Russian missiles and drones.
