Major General Tomer Bar conducted an investigation into the incident involving a UAV strike on a residential building in Yavne. The explosion caused significant damage to the building. The drone, launched by the Houthis from Yemen, was detected by air defense radars but was not shot down due to misidentification. No observations were made of him, which led to an error.
As a result of the attack, a mistake was made – the Tzeva Adom warning signal was not activated. The Air Force commander noted that Israel failed to protect citizens and warn about the invasion. He clarified that the Tseva Adom system should be turned on even if the classification of the aircraft is ambiguous.
The task of protecting citizens and preventing incursions remains relevant for the Israeli Air Force. It is necessary to develop a strategy for reliable identification of threats and timely response to possible acts of hostility. Quote: “The inclusion of the Tseva Adom system should be mandatory, even if there is no clear classification of the aircraft as hostile.”
