On the occasion of the Passover holiday, President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky met with rabbis of Ukrainian cities and representatives of Jewish communities, including a military chaplain and a serviceman of the Armed Forces of Ukraine (“Hasid“). The meeting on April 6, 2026, was detailed on the official website of the President of Ukraine president.gov.ua.

The head of state congratulated everyone on the Passover holiday and wished those present and their families health and victory. According to Zelensky, Passover is precisely about the victory of freedom.

“This is very important for Ukraine today. Freedom is important, for which we are fighting with all the people of Ukraine. And thank you for being in this struggle, for supporting all the people, our entire state. You support your communities, you support our people. Your support is very important,” emphasized Volodymyr Zelensky.

Zelensky did not congratulate the Jewish communities exactly on the first day of Passover, as by the beginning of the holiday he already had a busy international schedule: shortly before that he visited Saudi Arabia, UAE, Qatar, and Jordan, and on April 4-5 he was in Turkey and Syria, so the public meeting with the rabbis took place on April 6.

Also, the Federation of Jewish Communities of Ukraine presented the President with more than 40 Jewish books and gifted a Torah translated into Ukrainian.

The chief rabbis noted that Ukraine is living in very difficult times but has not lost its statehood and freedom, and continues to fight. They emphasized that the Jewish community will continue to make every effort and pray for the victory of our country.

“Freedom begins from within, from oneself. And we are very happy and proud to live in Ukraine in such difficult times. It is an honor for us to be connected with Ukraine. We have lived here for many years, we have tied our lives, our families to Ukraine. We are confident that there will be a just peace, a true victory,” noted the head of the Council of the Federation of Jewish Communities of Ukraine, Meir Stambler.

“We live in times of great confrontation between good and evil. And just as in the days of Passover the people of Israel came out of slavery to freedom, so will the people of Ukraine inevitably achieve victory! For I sincerely believe: the war will end, Ukraine will win, and with God’s help, every regime that brings evil and destruction will fall!

May the Almighty Bless the President of Ukraine, its people, and all those who stand on the side of Light today!”, — emphasized the chief rabbi of Ukraine, Moshe Asman.

Against this backdrop, the meeting with rabbis and representatives of Jewish communities did not look like a formal holiday gesture, but as part of a broader diplomatic and public agenda. For readers who follow the connections between Ukraine, Israel, and the Jewish world, this context is especially important, and it is precisely this that NANovosti — News of Israel | Nikk.Agency reveals in such topics.

Vice President of the Federation of Jewish Communities of Ukraine, Raphael Rutman, added that during the full-scale Russian invasion, the amount of Jewish literature translated into Ukrainian has increased.

According to him, all these books are printed in Kharkiv, despite the fact that the publishing house has been repeatedly attacked by Russia. Raphael Rutman presented more than 40 books and gifted Volodymyr Zelensky the first Ukrainian-language Torah.
