The commander of the separate unmanned systems regiment “Rarog”, Oleg Guyt, call sign “Hasan”, said that Israel sold RADA radars “first to Ukraine, and then to Russia”. He mentioned this at Defense Tech Valley 2025 in an interview with the YouTube channel Militarnyi on September 29, 2025.

According to Guyt, it was after this that the Russian army began to more effectively shoot down Ukrainian reconnaissance drones. He claims that both sides now use the same radar stations.

.......

In fact, the Russians started shooting down our reconnaissance aircraft. Do you know why? ….. … , because Israel sold RADA radars.

Because the Israelis, very cool guys, who talk a lot about being for Ukraine, sold (to Russia – ed.) radar stations that are very effective, which are in Ukraine. They sold to us, and six months later sold to the Russians. Ukraine began to very effectively shoot down Orlans, Zalas, Lancets, and so on.

And Russia purchased (these – ed.) radar stations, and now they are destroying them as well. They shine so brightly that now our radars see them, you understand?,” he said.

….

We wrote about how Israeli RADA RPS-42 radars have been helping protect Ukraine’s skies since 2023.

…..

What is known about RADA systems

The Israeli company RADA Electronic Industries (Netanya) produces tactical radar stations (RLS) used in air defense systems and unmanned complexes. These radars are used for detecting drones, artillery shells, and low-altitude targets.

According to the company itself, the RPS-42 and RPS-72 family stations are capable of detecting:

  • a person — at a distance of up to 20 km;
  • a drone — up to 45 km;
  • artillery shells and missiles — up to 100 km (depending on the modification).

These systems were previously supplied to several NATO countries, including the USA, Czech Republic, Poland, and Ukraine. However, there is no official confirmation of RADA sales to Russia from Israel or the company.

Guyt’s statement on the impact on the drone war

Oleg Guyt noted that after the radars were received, Ukraine was able to significantly increase the effectiveness of shooting down Russian drones — primarily the Orlan and Lancet models.

.......

However, according to him, the situation changed after similar stations appeared with the enemy:

“Ukraine began to very effectively shoot down ‘Orlans’, ‘Lancets’, and others. And then Russia purchased radar stations, and they now do the same.”

The commander emphasized that these systems affect the ratio of losses among drones, as they allow for quick detection of launch and flight trajectory.

Israel’s position

The Israeli side has not officially confirmed the sale of radars to Russia. The company RADA Electronic Industries has been part of the American corporation Leonardo DRS since 2022 and is subject to US and Israeli export controls.

Israel previously stated that it does not supply lethal weapons to Ukraine but allows for the export of dual-use technologies, including communication and surveillance systems, through commercial contracts.

In the context of the conflict, Israeli representatives have repeatedly emphasized that the country maintains neutrality in military exports to avoid direct confrontation with Russia.

REFERENCE: 427th Separate Unmanned Systems Regiment “Rarog”

Founded: April 2023
Subordination: Ground Forces of the Armed Forces of Ukraine
Type: unmanned systems unit

Commander: Lieutenant Colonel Oleg Guyt (call sign “Hasan”), holder of the Order of Courage III degree

Formation history

“Rarog” was created as a company of unmanned systems within the 24th Separate Mechanized Brigade named after King Danylo. During 2023, the unit quickly grew to a battalion, and in 2025 it received the status of a regiment.
Since February 2025, “Rarog” has become one of the key participants in the initiative “Drone Force”, later renamed “Drone Line”, which also included units “K-2”, “Achilles”, “Phoenix”, and “Birds of Magyar”.

Combat operations and participation in the war

In the battle for Bakhmut, the unit used FPV drones for precision strikes and aerial reconnaissance. According to open data, “Rarog” destroyed a Russian T-90 tank, a radar station Kredo-M1, and several armored personnel carriers.
In the battles for Chasiv Yar in 2024–2025, the regiment destroyed four T-62 tanks, three BMP-2s, and one technical support vehicle BREM-1.
By 2025, the unit became one of the leaders in creating a unified school of drone units, engaging not only in combat missions but also in systematic training of operators.

Specialization and structure

The regiment specializes in managing strike and reconnaissance drones, training FPV operators, developing and implementing electronic warfare systems (EW), logistics, IT and communications, as well as operational aerial reconnaissance and artillery fire coordination.
“Rarog” actively cooperates with Ukrainian technology startups and volunteer initiatives developing new types of drones for the front’s needs.

Projects and innovations

In June 2025, “Rarog” formed the first female crew of drone interceptors — a precedent for Ground Forces units.
The regiment participates in the “Drone Line” project, integrating unmanned technologies across the front line.
The unit develops its own operator training system from scratch, creating a platform for training specialists in drone technologies.

Media and public activities

The unit has an official website rarog.in.ua and active pages on Facebook, Instagram, YouTube, and Telegram, where news, video materials, and vacancies are published.
The regiment cooperates with the LobbyX platform, where announcements for recruiting UAV operators, technicians, programmers, logisticians, and communicators are posted.

Symbolism and name

The name “Rarog” comes from the mythical falcon of the ancient Slavs, which flies out of a fiery whirlwind and carries flames. This image became a symbol of speed, precision, and striking power.
The unit’s emblem depicts a stylized falcon against a backdrop of flames — a sign of determination and offensive power.

Mission and motto

The official motto of the unit: “Minimal losses — maximum results”.
This formula reflects the philosophy of “Rarog” — precision strikes, minimization of human losses, and maximum technological efficiency.

Commander “Rarog” Oleg Guyt, call sign “Hasan”

Oleg Olegovich Guyt, call sign “Hasan”, is a Ukrainian officer, commander of the 427th Separate Unmanned Systems Regiment “Rarog”.

From 2014 to 2016, he commanded a mortar platoon in eastern Ukraine. After service, he lived in the Czech Republic for several years, where he engaged in business and training. When Russia’s full-scale invasion began, in March 2022, Guyt returned to his homeland and joined the ranks of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.

He was the initiator of the creation of the “Rarog” company within the 24th Mechanized Brigade named after King Danylo. The unit quickly grew — first to a battalion, and then, in 2025, to a full-fledged unmanned systems regiment.

Oleg Guyt has led “Rarog” since its inception. Under his command, the unit became one of the key centers for the development and use of FPV drones, conducting aerial reconnaissance and artillery fire adjustment.

For personal courage and dedication, Guyt has been awarded two state orders:
Order of Courage III degree (November 23, 2022) — for actions in defense of Ukraine’s sovereignty and territorial integrity.
Order of Bohdan Khmelnytsky III degree (February 20, 2025) — for personal courage and dedication shown during combat operations.

Possible consequences

At the time of publication, no official reaction from Israel, Ukraine, or the USA to Guyt’s statement has been received.

Military analysts note that if such information is confirmed, it could cause diplomatic tension, as the supply of systems capable of tracking drones directly affects the balance of power on the front.

Ukraine continues to use the received Israeli RADA radars to protect critical infrastructure and promptly detect Russian attacks. According to reports from specialized publications, the effectiveness of these systems is assessed as high, especially under conditions of constant massive drone and missile attacks.

Context and sources

The Israeli company RADA Electronic Industries, according to open data, has been part of the American defense holding Leonardo DRS since 2022.

Official company websites and open data from the Israeli Ministry of Defense do not contain confirmations of supplies to Russia.

As of October 2025, Ukraine continues cooperation with RADA through American and European defense programs, and the Israeli government supports the position of limited military assistance — air defense systems, communication means, and cyber defense are supplied through the USA and private companies.

Conclusion:

The statement by the commander of “Rarog” raises a sensitive issue of dual-use technology transfer.
The facts of RADA supplies to Ukraine are publicly confirmed, but there is no official evidence of supplies to Russia.

Nevertheless, the coincidence of the technical capabilities of the parties in the field of drone detection increases concerns that such technologies are increasingly found on both sides of the front — legally or not.
