Dozens of ultra-Orthodox Jews gathered outside the home of Rabbi David Leibel, who advises the IDF.
The situation got out of control, demonstrators broke cameras and shouted “Death to the rabbi”. Supporting the rabbi, his representatives asked everyone to come against violence to protect his home and expected the police to intervene.
Interior Minister Moshe Arbel condemned the extremists, saying they were defaming the name of God. State Camp leader Benny Gantz expressed support for Leibel and condemned the violence around his home.
Rabbi Leibel says he will not let violence deter him from fighting for better military service conditions for the ultra-Orthodox.
