The head of the organization Nasrallah asked Iran to strike Israel. However, Iranian officials refused, explaining that now is not the right time. The reason may be the presence of the Iranian president at the UN General Assembly.

Iranian President Pezeshkian said Israel was seeking a larger war and stressed that Iran did not want to fall into that “trap.” When asked further about how Iran would support Hezbollah, he was evasive, warning against conflict with a heavily armed Israel. In turn, he called for Lebanon not to be allowed to become “another Gaza in the hands of Israel.”

Experts note that Hezbollah has limited its response to Israeli strikes and avoided serious attempts to attack major Israeli cities. They believe Iran is holding back the organization out of fear of the United States joining the conflict. The possibility of Iran joining the war against Israel was recently discussed in talks with the Israeli defense minister and the head of the Pentagon.
