Greenland's President responded to Trump's statements by saying they are not for sale

Muta Egede, prime minister of the autonomous region of Greenland, said Greenland cannot be sold. His words were quoted by international agencies on December 24.

“Greenland is ours. We are not for sale and will never be for sale. We must not lose our long struggle for freedom,” Yegede said.

The head of government of this Arctic island, part of Denmark, thus responded to recent statements by US President-elect Donald Trump.

According to the report, Trump said ownership and control of Greenland is absolutely essential to national security and freedom around the world. The Danish Foreign Ministry did not comment on Trump's statement. It is also noted that Trump previously expressed a desire to buy Greenland during his previous presidential term.

According to the publication, Trump also threatened to establish control over the Panama Canal, to which Panamanian President Jose Raul Mulino replied that every square meter of the canal belongs to Panama and will remain its property. On his own social media, Trump responded: “We’ll see!” In November, the US President-elect announced his intention to make neighboring Canada the 51st state of his country. Canada's Minister of Public Safety Dominic LeBlanc told reporters that Trump was joking and his words were “in no way a serious comment.”
