On February 12, 2025, Israeli Ambassador to Ukraine Michael Brodsky announced that he had handed over an EcoFlow portable charging station to the brother of Nazar Itkin, a fighter in the elite Israeli Egoz special forces unit who was killed in action in southern Lebanon in October 2024.

This gesture became a symbol of the connection between Israel and Ukraine, the common struggle for the security and freedom of the two peoples.

.......

Nazar was 21 years old. He repatriated to Israel from Ukraine in 2014.

His father David Itkin now lives in Israel, while his mother and older brother remained near Kyiv. From the very beginning of Russia’s full-scale invasion of Ukraine, David, despite his venerable age, stood up to defend his homeland: first in the territorial defense of the Kyiv region, and then in the battles in the Kharkov direction.

“This is further proof that the war in Ukraine and Israel is a common grief,” noted Chief Rabbi of Ukraine Moshe Reuven Azman.

EcoFlow — a symbol of help and support

The transfer of the EcoFlow charging station is part of a large-scale humanitarian program initiated by Israel to help Ukraine. In early 2025, several hundred of these devices were sent to Ukrainian cities to help people survive the winter and cope with constant power outages.

Nazar Itkin – the story of a true hero

Common struggle and common pain

The death of Nazar Itkin reminds us that Ukraine and Israel are fighting the same fight. Terrorist threats and external aggression equally threaten the civilians of both countries.
