Artists, even those loved by entire generations, in dictatorial regimes often find themselves faced with a choice, where their creativity becomes a tool of propaganda, serving the regime in exchange for money and success, and the choice remains only with their conscience, reputation, and future generations.

On November 13, 2024, “Honored Artist of the Russian Federation Aleksei Glyzin visited the Unified Military Service Recruitment Center and gave a concert for the soldiers, reports the correspondent of ‘Arguments and Facts‘.
“This is my first visit to the recruitment center for contract military service. But we, with the team, have traveled repeatedly to Syria and the Special Military Operation zone to support our military. … And, of course, I was surprised by the number of young men signing contracts. There are really a lot of them,” – shared his impressions of the visit.
“… And I have great respect for those who go to defend the Motherland, our country. They do this completely consciously, they are not afraid,” – added the artist.
The singer was surprised by how many Russians are signing contracts, and that he “respects those who go to defend the Motherland” (editor’s note – in a foreign independent country?).
After the tour, the singer performed for the assembled contract soldiers in the assembly hall, sang several songs, and wished the soldiers good luck, good commanders, and, of course, writes “AiF“, “victory“.
“He especially emphasized the importance of supporting the families of the soldiers. According to the artist, thanks to this, the defenders of the Motherland can worry less about their relatives and loved ones.”
On March 31, 2024, “Aleksei Glyzin sang for the Red Banner troops and visited ‘the wounded in the SVO’,” say “KrasnoznamenskLIVEnews“.

Each soldier was able to take a photo with the artist and received a signed CD.”
There is more to search – Russian media are endless…
He praised Bandera, sang Ukrainian songs, and now visits Russian contractors
By the way, in 2006, the singer was awarded the title of Honored Artist of the Russian Federation by the Russian dictator Putin.
Before the Russo-Ukrainian war, the artist often performed in Ukraine on stage with stars of the Ukrainian show business. Glyzin had a special friendship with Ukrainian performer Viktor Pavlyk.
In 2013, the Russian singer appeared on the M1 Music morning show “Guten Morgen”, where he tried to speak Ukrainian and even sang the Ukrainian song “Chornobrivtsi” with Pavlyk.
Already in 2018, after the start of the ATO, Glyzin visited occupied Donetsk. In subsequent years, the singer actively visited occupied Sevastopol and performed in propaganda concerts in Crimea.
He was listed in the “Myrotvorets” database.
“Violation of the sovereignty and territorial integrity of Ukraine. Deliberate violation of the State Border of Ukraine to penetrate the Russian-occupied Crimea. Deliberate violation of the state border of Ukraine to enter the territory of Ukraine occupied by Russian-terrorist groups in Donbas. Cooperation with pro-Russian terrorist organizations. Participation in propaganda activities of Russia (the aggressor country) against Ukraine. Participation in attempts to legalize the occupation of the Crimean Peninsula by Russian invaders. Illegal commercial activity in the Crimea occupied by Russian invaders.
He is involved in the collection and delivery of material aid to the NDF militants. There is no information on his direct participation in military actions.”
After the full-scale invasion, in April 2022, Viktor Pavlyk stated in an interview on the program “Zirkovyi Shlyakh“, that Glyzin always, when coming to Ukraine, said first: “Long live Stepan Bandera and his wife Paraska” (Ukrainian – “Glory to Stepan Bandera and his wife Paraska“).
“Lesha Glyzin doesn’t write often. During this period, he wrote twice: ‘How is this possible? This is impossible.’ I said, ‘Lesha, it’s true.’ I sent him many pictures and videos. He was astonished. He said, ‘How is this possible, in the 21st century, 2022? The whole progressive humanity, everything is civilized, and you can’t find any common ground?’ I said, ‘Lesha, what are you saying? Look at what is happening, how brutal it is, etc. When he came to Ukraine, the first thing he said, getting off the train: “Long live Stepan Bandera and his wife Paraska.” That was his slogan,” — said Pavlyk.
In 2019, in an interview he said:
“Despite all the current disagreements between Russia and Ukraine, we are still brothers forever. But of course, to split like this – it must have been a real effort! As for me, my cousin’s father’s side is from Ukraine, I often visited relatives in Vinnytsia. And with ‘Vesyolye rebyata’ and later with my group, I toured Ukraine a lot. We were always warmly welcomed. And, in general, nothing foreshadowed the current catastrophe.
I believe the current situation is a catastrophe for the people who were divided. Many families have been destroyed because of it, relationships and so on. No one has won from this. Well, except for the Americans….”
In 2023, Glyzin stated that “he has no intention of lowering himself to the level of Galkin.”
Let’s recall that Galkin left Russia after the start of the “special operation in Ukraine.” Having moved abroad (to Israel), he “repeatedly insulted the Russian government and his fellow countrymen.”
“Don’t worry… uncle is at work”
Every Israeli decides for themselves whether to support Aleksei Glyzin with their shekel. However, behind his musical legacy and success lies a reality that he seems to prefer to ignore. Supporting Russian aggression, participating in propaganda activities, and visiting Russian contractors during the war raise moral questions for many about the artist’s responsibility.
The “SVO” that Glyzin supports has brought immense suffering to Ukraine—destroyed cities, thousands of dead, millions of refugees, dead children, destroyed families, crises, and an endless nightmare.
This has led to human casualties, economic destruction, and terrible consequences for the country.
Just like in the song “Don’t worry… uncle is at work“, Glyzin continues his career, ignoring or overlooking the devastation caused by such “our soldiers in SVO.” Supporting such an artist, who supports the aggressor, becomes morally impossible for many.
It is impossible to ban such concerts in Israel, as the law does not allow cultural activities to be restricted based on political views or the personal positions of the artists.
It is up to everyone’s conscience to decide whether to support him with their shekel,
but we will not go to the concert.
By the way, for those who don’t know, who is Aleksei Glyzin — he is a Russian singer, musician, and actor who began his career in 1976, becoming a laureate of the ‘Red Carnation’ contest in Sochi. Since then, he has become famous for his hit repertoire, including songs like “You Are Not an Angel”, “Winter Garden”, “Late Evening in Sorrento”, “Either Freedom or Captivity”, “Letters from Afar”, “Don’t Worry, Aunt”, “All Behind”, “Friend” (with Alexander Marshal, Murat Nasirov, Nikolai Trubach, and Mikhail Shufutinsky), “Oh This Evening”, and “Happiness is Mine”. His career spans several decades, and he was a soloist for well-known groups like “Vesyolye Rebyata”, “Samotsvety”, and “Dobrye Molodtsy”. Glyzin also worked with famous artists such as Alla Pugacheva, Mikhail Shufutinsky, Murat Nasirov, Nikolai Trubach, Alexander Marshal, Sergey Lazarev, and Igor Krutoy. Glyzin is one of the symbols of Russian pop music, whose work has been loved by entire generations.
