The European Commission has announced it will send €30 million in humanitarian aid to Lebanon as the situation worsens due to the conflict between Israel and Hezbollah.

Details indicate the assistance includes food, medical assistance, shelter and other support. The EU will also help deliver material assistance through the EU Civil Protection Mechanism to Beirut. Lebanon has already received more than €100 million in humanitarian aid from the European Commission this year.

As conflict between Israel and Lebanon escalates, the UN warns of the possibility of a new wave of refugees heading to Europe. About a million Lebanese have already been internally displaced, accounting for 20% of the country's population.
