The head of the IDF's secret intelligence unit 8200, Colonel Yossi Shriel, has addressed the events of October 7 and taken responsibility, resigning from his post. According to Ynet, the military intelligence unit 8200 was responsible for providing information about Hamas' preparations for a potential invasion of areas of Israel, but failed to fulfill its task of collecting information.
This is not the first time that the intelligence units have resigned because of their inability to gather the necessary information. Earlier, the head of the AMAN military intelligence, General Aron Haliva, resigned for the same reason. He was replaced by General Shlomi Binder, who now heads the unit.
