President of Ukraine Vladimir Zelensky will personally visit Hungary for the first time since the start of the war in Ukraine. Today, November 7, the summit of the European Political Society will be held in Budapest, which will be attended by the head of the Ukrainian state.
Zelensky himself announced this during his video address to the nation. According to him, he was invited to the summit by the Prime Minister of Hungary and the President of the European Council. At the meeting it is planned to discuss European security issues and new opportunities for partners.
The summit was in doubt due to the fact that it was organized by Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orban, with whom relations in Europe are not very good due to his foreign policy. Relations between Ukraine and Hungary are tense due to the pro-Russian course of Orban and his government. They recently announced that they are working on a document on security and NATO.
Orban said that the summit would take place against the backdrop of the US presidential election, and was ready to discuss changes in US policy with his EU colleagues after the Republican came to power. Zelensky also called Trump to congratulate him on his victory and discuss future relations between the two countries. The President of Ukraine spoke out about NATO's decision to shoot down missiles over Israel, refusing to do the same in relation to Ukraine.
