UN to Israel: Now you must replace UNRWA.

The United Nations has asked Israel to provide humanitarian assistance, since after the cessation of cooperation from UNRWA, this task falls on the shoulders of Jerusalem. The Termination Act of 1967 had already entered into force and diplomatic immunity had been revoked. The agency worked not only in the Gaza Strip, but also in the Palestinian Authority.

The UN representative said that the organization cannot replace the functions of UNRWA, and therefore Israel will need to find alternative ways to provide humanitarian assistance to the population in education, health and other areas. For the civilian population, the issue remains open, and the sources of power themselves do not yet have plans to replace the agency’s activities.

Israel, under international law, is responsible for the lives and well-being of civilians in the West Bank, where it is considered an occupier. However, the country has not yet presented projects to replace UNRWA in the Gaza Strip, and the absence of the agency will likely lead to a deterioration in educational conditions for children in the region.
