Finland has secured the lead in the number of scanned traditional documents, along with born-digital documents, which will no longer be accepted for storage on paper from 2022.

According to the director of the Ukrainian Research Institute of Archival Affairs and Records Management Vitaliy Skalsky, Ukraine is a world leader in the speed of digitization of archival documents.

Quote: “Last year, the Ukrainian archive system digitized more than 21 million sheets of documents. This is 17.5 times more than in 2019. We are talking about a geometric progression of the growth rate of digitization of Ukrainian archives. Despite the war, the systemic power outages in archival institutions, we plan to digitize at least 30 million copies of documents this year,” Khromov said.
