Newly elected US President Donald Trump wants to reach an agreement on the release of hostages in the Gaza Strip before he returns to the White House in January 2025. Axios reports this.
The senator visited Israel this week, where he met with Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu. The senator noted that Trump is committed to reaching an agreement on the release of hostages in the Gaza Strip even before he assumes the presidency again.
The senator stressed that Trump is determined to free the hostages and achieve a ceasefire in the region. He said he hopes Trump and the Biden administration will work together to free the hostages and achieve peace. Graham also reacted to the Israeli finance minister's statement about the “voluntary emigration” of Palestinians from Gaza after Trump's election victory.
According to the senator, the best defense against Hamas is not the reoccupation of Gaza, but reforms in Palestinian society that only Arab countries can carry out. Graham also discussed the topic of normalizing relations with Israel, noting the need to include a “Palestinian component.” The senator recently met with Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman during his visit to the Middle East.
