In the Gaza Strip, support for Hamas has fallen to 6%. The poll found that only that percentage of residents would like to see Hamas in government positions. 47% would support Fatah, which currently governs the Palestinian Authority. Interestingly, 49% of respondents expressed a desire to emigrate from Gaza.

The majority of respondents are against Hamas distributing humanitarian aid in the region. They believe that the Palestinian Authority should return to power after the war. At least half of those surveyed support deals with Israel and the release of hostages.

These data indicate that Palestinian society in Gaza is looking for an alternative to Hamas. There is a chance to plan for the “day after the war”, but Israel has not yet used this opportunity, according to columnist Ehud Yaari.
