US National Security Council Communications Director John Kirby said a ceasefire agreement between Israel and Hezbollah is close. He stressed the need for caution in such statements since a deal has not yet been concluded, but noted that negotiations are moving in a positive direction.
The priority of this issue for US President Joe Biden is confirmed by direct contact with Special Envoy for Lebanon Amos Hochstein. The White House representative noted that all negotiations and efforts are aimed at achieving the ultimate goal of a ceasefire, which was brought closer thanks to a large number of meetings and the work of the special envoy.
The presidents of the United States and France discussed the issue of a ceasefire in Lebanon, although Kirby did not comment on the possible announcement of an agreement on November 26. He only emphasized the strong desire on both sides for the conflict to end and tensions to subside, especially between Israel and Hezbollah.
