The US military is bracing for a possible failure of ceasefire talks between Israel and Hamas amid fears of a wider regional conflict, General C.K. Brown told the Financial Times on Thursday.
He noted that in the event of a deadlock or termination of negotiations, it is necessary to assess the possible consequences for tensions in the region and prepare for them. The general also expressed concern about the activity of regional players and the possibility of an escalation of the conflict.
US Secretary of State Antony Blinken suggested that the US would soon share its ideas for resolving unresolved issues with Israel and Hamas. After that, the parties themselves would make a decision.
