The United States has banned Israel from launching a ground invasion of Lebanon, The Washington Post reports.

US officials are advising Israel against ground operations in Lebanon. US forces in the region are preparing for a possible Iranian response to the killing of Hezbollah Secretary General Hassan Nasrallah. The Washington Post reports this, citing its sources.

The above-mentioned publication talks about US preparations for possible counterattacks from Hezbollah, as well as possible attacks organized by Iran or forces controlled by it, such as the Houthis in Yemen.

A senior US administration official said the country was preparing for a variety of responses to a possible response from Hezbollah, possible Iranian attacks on US forces in the region, or even an Iranian missile attack on Israel. US officials are convinced that Israeli operations led to Hezbollah's defeat.
