Swedish Defense Minister Paul Johnson expressed his opinion in an interview with the Polish newspaper Rzeczpospolita. He noted that the war in the Middle East is distracting the world's attention from Ukraine.

Johnson noted that some Western countries are redirecting weapons to the Middle East instead of helping Ukraine. Sweden has transferred weapons worth 4.5 billion euros to the Ukrainians and will continue to help. Paul Johnson believes that supporting Ukraine is the best investment in security.

Jonson also said that Sweden intends to maintain transatlantic ties regardless of the US presidential elections. At the same time, he stressed that Europe must increase military spending and take greater responsibility for its defense within NATO.

On October 1, Iran attacked Israel, firing more than 180 missiles. The IDF reported hits on air bases, but no casualties. The Iranian strikes were described as ineffective. The Israeli Prime Minister said Iran had made a serious mistake and would bear the consequences for it.

According to a senior US State Department official, Israel has made no promises not to attack Iran's nuclear facilities. In response to Iran's missile attack, Israel's defense minister said he was ready for a “deadly, precise and unexpected” response.
