Moscow plays the “friend” of Israel while it supplies Hamas, Iran and Hezbollah with weapons and pursues an anti-Semitic policy.
Russia kills Ukrainians, arms Israel’s enemies, but wants “respect”
Russian Ambassador to Israel Anatoly Viktorov in an interview with “Russia 24” on February 7, 2025, said:
“Despite the enormous pressure exerted on the leadership of Israel by the Western camp, countries led by the head of this camp – the United States, despite the pressure from the neo-Nazi Kyiv regime, Israel has not imposed and does not intend to impose any sanctions against Russia. It takes a clear position on the fact that not to supply weapons to Ukraine.”
“We have noticed this and respect it”– (really? -ed.).
It sounds cynical. Russia, which supports Hamas, is an ally of Iran, arms Hezbollah and regularly votes against Israel on the international stage, suddenly decided to remind about “friendship”.
But should Israel really take such statements seriously?
Is Russia an ally of Israel or its enemies?
Moscow propaganda likes to talk about “warm relations” with Israel:
“Over the past 30 years since the resumption of diplomatic relations between Russia and Israel, a solid foundation for our cooperation has been laid”.
, but the facts say otherwise. Yes indeed:
- Russia is a strategic partner of Iran, Israel’s main enemy, which finances Hamas and Hezbollah terrorists.
- Moscow supplied weapons to Hezbollah through Syrian military bases. Russian weapons found in Lebanon, including Kornet antitank missiles, prove this connection.
- Russia refused to recognize Hamas as a terrorist organization, and immediately after their attack on Israel on October 7, invited their delegation to Moscow.
- On the international stage, Russia systematically votes against Israel, supporting anti-Semitic UN resolutions and criticizing IDF military operations.
- Anti-Semitism in Russia is growing – from attacks on Jewish centers to the closure of exhibitions on Jewish culture in St. Petersburg.
“We, of course, welcome the agreement between Israel and Hamas on a ceasefire in the Gaza Strip,” Viktorov said.
But who will really benefit from this “peace”? The terrorists that Moscow is arming?
Moscow’s Double Standards: “Nazis” in Ukraine, but Not in Gaza?
The Russians loudly declare that they are “fighting Nazism” in Ukraine, but at the same time:
- They are destroying Ukrainian cities and killing civilians.
- They are supplying Iran with technology for the production of kamikaze drones, which they then use to attack Kyiv, Odessa and other cities.
- They are protecting Hamas, the group that carried out the largest Jewish pogrom since the Holocaust.
In this context, Viktorov’s words sounded logical:
“In the year of the 80th anniversary of the Great Victory, it is important to remember that between Israel and Russia, between the peoples of our countries, there are no differences in the interpretation of history, especially that period associated with the Great Patriotic War and World War II wars.
In Israel, at all levels, they always emphasize that the role of the multinational Red Army of the Soviet Union in the victory over Nazism, ending the horrors of the Holocaust, and liberating Europe from the “brown plague” will never be forgotten here. It is very important that we and Israel speak at international venues from similar positions on this issue.”
But how does this message fit in with the fact that modern Russia supports Hamas, which on October 7 carried out a massacre reminiscent of the Holocaust?
US President Donald Trump, who was previously considered “close to the Kremlin,” is now doing everything possible to put pressure on Putin and force him to stop the bloody aggression against Ukraine.
Russian “tourists” in Israel: who will come on visas?
Amid sanctions and war, Israeli resorts are increasingly targeting Russian tourists. But who will actually end up in this “tourist flow”?
- Former fighters of the so-called “SVO” who killed Ukrainians and fought on the side of Russia.
- People with combat experience who could pose a security threat inside Israel.
- Potential agents of the Russian special services using tourism as a cover.
How will they behave in Israel? Will this flow not become a threat to the Jewish state?
It’s time for Israel to make a choice
Russia continues to prove that it remains a terrorist country: support for Hamas, friendship with Iran, arms supplies to Hezbollah, anti-Semitic policies, etc.yna against Ukraine.
He added that the embassy is actively involved in organizing tours in Israel.
“I would like to note that, of course, Russian-speaking citizens and not only Russian-speaking ones, because there are many more educated people in Israel than Russian-speaking ones. Almost the entire population of Israel is sufficiently prepared to perceive the culture of other peoples. The Moscow State Academic Ballet Theater under the direction of People’s Artist Vyacheslav Gordeev toured 12 cities to full houses, with applause. After the concerts, one of which I attended, they came up to me and showed me their finger like this (how exactly – ed.). Thank you very much,” the ambassador said.
Viktorov recalled that in 2023, an agreement was signed between Russia and Israel on cooperation in the field of film production.
“After 15 years of discussing the draft of this agreement, it was signed at a difficult moment in our relations, which confirmed the desire of both countries and peoples to continue cooperation and exchanges in the field of culture. I must say that this agreement opens up new opportunities for directors, all figures in the film industry, Israeli and Russian, not only in joint production, but also in organizing film distribution and in many other areas,” he noted on air.
But why does Israel need artists from a country that supports its enemies?
Israel can no longer turn a blind eye to Moscow’s actions, otherwise it risks becoming its next victim.
