Habima Theater, National Stage of Israel, will present the production on January 14, 2025 “חיבור.ניתוק” (translated from Hebrew – “Connection. Break”). This performance is more than just a play: it is a poetic and dramatic story that speaks to the heart of everyone.
Language: Hebrew / Ukrainian.
This contemporary Israeli drama tells the story of a Ukrainian refugee who, after arriving in Israel, faces difficulties at work. One of her challenges is an annoying client who does not respect boundaries and each time tries to manipulate her more and more aggressively, using tactics of arrogance (“chutzpah”) and patience (“savlanut”).
As noted by Marina Kadatska, founder MAK_UA/Ukrainian Mistetska Amatorsk Forge in Israel “the play reveals the difficult path of emigration of single Ukrainian women.”
We invite you to support the production about the life of the Ukrainian diaspora in Israel
The play by director and author Bella Litvak is based on the real experiences of people who faced loss and rethinking their place in the world.
The play presents a dramatic and poetic story about human tragedies and the search for oneself in difficult life circumstances.
The main character, a refugee from Ukraine, ends up working for an Internet company that provides erotic services due to a translation error. An unusual request from a regular customer begins to blur the lines between reality and fantasy, between voluntary choice and coercion.
The play raises issues of loss and pain, as well as reassessment of one’s own values. The main character notes that she has only lost the right to her body, which, in her opinion, is not such a great price compared to what other people have lost
Main themes of the production
“I found myself here… but I don’t cry about it. There are those who have lost their children, parents, lives. I only lost the right to my body. This is a small price compared to what I could pay there.”
These words of the main character reveal the essence of the performance.
The production explores:
- The boundaries of reality and fantasy. A simple translation error led the main character to work at an Internet company that provides erotic conversation services.
- Choice price. A regular customer makes a request that blurs the line between voluntary consent and coercion.
- Personal tragedy in the context of global losses.
Unique format and atmosphere
The drama only lasts 50 minutes, but that's enough time to convey powerful emotions. No intermissions, no unnecessary pauses – the performance captivates you from the first minute.
