The Pentagon decided to supply Ukraine with anti-personnel mines

A change in Russian strategy at the front led to the United States' decision to provide Ukraine with unstable anti-personnel mines. Russian occupiers currently prefer assault operations with the participation of motorized infantry. It was to counter such attacks that the administration of US President Joe Biden made a decision.

The position of the United States on military assistance to Ukraine was explained by the head of the Pentagon, Lloyd Austin. He noted that such anti-personnel mines could pose a danger to civilians, which is why Ukraine has pledged to “mark where they place these mines.”

The decision to provide anti-personnel mines instead of anti-tank mines was a major policy change for the Biden administration. Austin stressed that the Ukrainian army needs capabilities that can help slow down the Russian advance.

Arms shipments to Ukraine and Israel have strained United States reserves, but at the same time updated the American arsenal with modern weapons. Austin noted that supporting the security of Ukraine and Israel played a role in this process.
