The Palestinian National Council has asked international organizations to put pressure on the Israeli government to lift the blockade of the Gaza Strip and ensure media access to the region. The statement expressed concern at the scale of the massacres that the Council believes are being perpetrated by the Israeli authorities on the Palestinian people.
The United Nations has condemned the attack on a school in Khan Yunis, which killed 12 people. The spokesman for the UN Secretary-General stressed the importance of urgent international action to stop massacres in the sector and bring those responsible to justice. Israeli authorities also again denied three humanitarian missions the delivery of food and water to besieged areas of northern Gaza.
The UN representative stressed that the humanitarian community continues to insist on the need for unimpeded access for humanitarian organizations to areas where people need assistance. He called for people's needs to be met regardless of location and urged freedom of movement for humanitarian missions in the Gaza Strip.
