Israel has set conditions for the release of the body of Jordanian terrorist Maher al-Jazi, who killed three Israelis at the Allenby checkpoint. Almost a week after the incident, the terrorist's body is still in Israeli territory, and negotiations between Jordan and Israel are ongoing. Jordanian media reports that Israel is demanding an official apology for the attack, restrictions on the number of people attending the funeral, and a ban on any celebrations at the funeral.

Last Friday, a massive demonstration in Amman demanding the return of al-Jazi's body increased pressure on the Jordanian government. The terrorist's brother said that negotiations were moving forward and there was “positive momentum.” However, it remains unclear whether Jordan will agree to all of Israel's conditions. The Allenby crossing remains closed, negatively affecting trade between Jordan and Palestine.

Earlier, Jordanian intelligence services managed to prevent a major terrorist attack at the Allenby checkpoint. A terrorist cell was exposed that was planning an explosion using a truck filled with explosives. During the operation, four suspected terrorists were detained, and explosive devices were found in a weapons lab. According to sources, all of the detainees are Jordanian citizens and acted autonomously, without the support of foreign groups.
