Today, the head of Israel declared UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres persona non grata and banned him from entering the country. In his opinion, those who do not condemn Iran's attack on Israel have no right to be on Israeli territory. The head of the department said that Guterres did not condemn the crimes of Hamas and did not recognize them as a terrorist organization.
In his reaction to Iran's attack on Israel, Guterres called for a ceasefire and expressed concern about the escalation of the conflict in Lebanon. He stressed the need to avoid a full-scale war and respect Lebanese sovereignty. According to him, the expansion of the Middle East conflict must be stopped.
Israel, according to the head of the department, will continue to protect its citizens and its national dignity, regardless of the presence of Guterres. At the same time, the UN representative drew attention to the need for a ceasefire and resolution of the conflict in the region.
Thus, the clash of interests between Israel and the UN caused a sharp reaction from the head of Israel, who declared his reluctance to see Guterres on his territory. Guterres, in turn, emphasized the importance of respecting Lebanese sovereignty and ending the Middle East conflict.
