Reserve Colonel Yoav Yarom announced his resignation following the death of soldier Gur Kehati and local historian Zeev Erlich in southern Lebanon. He allowed entry into the combat zone to inspect the ancient fortress, which led to tragedy. Yarom was then guarding the soldier himself and was wounded in the incident.
At Gur Kehati's funeral, General Asaf Agmon gave an emotional speech about the government's responsibility for what happened. Colonel Yarom said that he takes full responsibility for what happened and wants to resign as chief of staff of the brigade. He also stated his readiness to fully cooperate with the investigation into the incident.
In light of the values with which he was raised, Yarom recognized the need to take responsibility for what happened. He emphasized that the investigation into the incident has not yet been completed and the public has received false information about what happened, and he is ready to provide all the necessary evidence to establish the objective truth.
