The government's legal adviser and the prosecutor general have launched an investigation into statements about the prime minister's wife that were made on a Channel 12 program. It was alleged that Sara Netanyahu used activists to protect her husband and pressure witnesses.

According to the program, Sara Netanyahu conveyed her instructions through Hani Bleiweis, who worked in the office of the head of government. It was also stated that she tried to influence government witnesses in the gift case with the help of Likud activists.

The police are forced to open an investigation under pressure from accusations. Prime Minister Netanyahu accused the left and the media of slandering his wife, leading to accusations of undermining press freedom from journalists.
