Russia is actively spreading false information about Harris

Russian “troll factories” have begun distributing fake videos about US presidential candidate Kamala Harris in an effort to discredit her ahead of the election.

The disinformation campaign has intensified since US President Joe Biden dropped out of seeking a second term. The Kremlin-linked group Storm-1516 released two videos featuring “outrageous fabricated conspiracy theories” about Harris and vice presidential nominee Tim Walz.

One of the videos shows an attack on a campaign rally attendee, while another claims Harris was involved in a car accident that left a 13-year-old girl paralyzed. The videos have attracted millions of views and are part of a campaign by Russian trolls to discredit Democrats in the US.

In addition to Storm-1516, the group Storm-1679 is also involved in this campaign, switching from spreading fake news about the Paris Olympics to an attack ahead of the US presidential election.
