Residents of Haifa have been accused of spying for Iran.

On October 25, 2024, prosecutors presented to the District Court in Haifa an indictment against seven residents of Haifa and the north who were involved in espionage for Iran. Seven acted in a detachment, collecting information and photographing military installations and bases, as well as civilian infrastructure, ports and power plants.

The head of the cell was 43-year-old Aziz Nisanov, who was in contact with Iranian agents. Nisanov’s deputy and responsible for managing the detachment was 58-year-old Alexander Sedikov. Among the accused were two minors, as well as other members of the squad who received tasks and money for their activities.

The defendants received a total amount of $300 thousand for their work, dividing it among themselves. According to prosecutors, this is one of the most serious cases of security crimes in Israel committed by Israeli citizens. They knew about the dangers of their actions for state security and acted in favor of Iran.
