President of Ukraine Vladimir Zelensky officially decided to deprive 34 traitors of Ukraine of state awards.

The move was an important part of efforts to combat corruption and betrayal during the war, as well as a demonstration of Ukraine's determination to defend its national interests.

In a decree published on November 22, 2024 on the official website of the President of Ukraineit is said that 34 people, including artists, politicians and former high-ranking officials, are deprived of honorary titles and awards that they received for services to the state of Ukraine, as well as the application of sanctions against them.

For many of these individuals, the deprivation of the award was not only a personal loss, but also an important step in Ukraine’s legal fight against those who support Russia in the war. All cultural and public figures were deprived of state awards of Ukraine indefinitely. Some of them have been subject to sanctions in the form of “blocking of assets, cancellation of licenses and permits, and complete cessation of trading operations.”

Who is on the list of traitors?

This list included not only Russian stars who had previously received high awards from Ukraine, but also former Ukrainian officials and politicians who, after the outbreak of the war, began to support Russia or carried out actions that threatened the national security of Ukraine.

The day before, the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine supported bill No. 11410, which was initiated by the President of Ukraine Vladimir Zelensky. This draft law provides for the deprivation of state awards of Ukraine from persons convicted of grave or especially grave crimes, criminal offenses against the foundations of the national security of Ukraine, against peace, the security of humanity and international law and order, and certain crimes against public safety; those who promote the aggressor state or justify the occupation of Ukraine.
