In eastern Poland, in response to the threat of drone attacks in the border areas of Ukraine, a “preventive operation” has begun. The country’s and allies’ military aircraft took to the skies to ensure safety.
Authorities in the Lublin Voivodeship reported the closure of the airport in Lublin on September 13, 2025. Residents of five counties were advised to exercise caution and follow the instructions of authorities.
Warnings of a possible threat were sent via SMS and social media, urging caution: “Threat of an air attack. Exercise extreme caution. Follow the instructions of the services. Await further announcements.” Alarm signals sounded in the streets of cities, creating an atmosphere of concern.
Actions of Authorities and Military
According to Polish Prime Minister Donald Tusk, “due to the threat from Russian drones operating over Ukraine near the Polish border, preventive operations by Polish and allied air forces have begun in our airspace.” Ground indicators have also been brought to the highest state of readiness.
Last week, about twenty Russian drones violated Polish airspace, and NATO fighters managed to shoot down several drones. This prompted the alliance to announce the “Eastern Sentinel” operation, aimed at strengthening the eastern flank. Denmark, France, the United Kingdom, and Germany are participating in the operation, emphasizing the importance of joint security in the region.
Events in Romania
At the same time, in the northern part of Tulcea County in Romania, residents noticed Russian drones, which attracted the attention of local authorities. Antena 3 CNN reported a warning regarding the risk of falling aerial objects.
Two F-16 fighters were dispatched to escort the drones to the area of the settlement of Chilia Veche. However, soon one of the drones disappeared from the radar. Later, debris was found, confirming the danger posed by these devices. The fighters remained in the sky to monitor the airspace, ensuring the region’s protection.
Such events highlight the tension in Eastern Europe and the need for a serious approach to security in modern conditions. Heads of state have intensified their focus on the situation, discussing the coordination of efforts in the context of international security policy.
