A ceasefire in the Gaza Strip could be reached in talks between Israel and Hamas as early as this week, which should deter Iran from retaliating for the killing of Ismail Haniyeh.
This statement was made by three senior Iranian officials, Reuters reports. One of Iran's top security officials claims that Tehran and its allies are ready to attack Israel if the talks fail or if the process drags on. Iran may send its representative to the Gaza ceasefire talks to maintain diplomatic communication with the United States.
Sources close to Hezbollah said Iran would give talks a chance, but would not abandon its plans to retaliate against Israel.
