Online ceremony in memory of the victims of the October 7 terrorist attack: The Zionist Federation of Ukraine and the World Movement “Israel Beiteinu” will hold an event on October 8 at 20:00 on Zoom.

Two years after the horrific Hamas attack on Israel, the memory of that black Saturday remains an unhealed wound for both peoples.
On October 7, 2023, terrorists invaded kibbutzim and cities in southern Israel, killing about 1,200 people and taking 250 hostages. Dozens of them are still in captivity.

On October 8 at 20:00, the Zionist Federation of Ukraine together with the World Movement “Israel Beiteinu” will hold an online memorial ceremony on Zoom on the platform of the “Diye-Slovo” Studio.

Memory that unites

This ceremony is not just a remembrance of the tragedy, but a living connection between two countries for whom war and resilience have become part of the national code.
After the October 7 attack, Ukraine became the only country in the world where there was not a single pro-Hamas rally or act of anti-Semitism. On October 8 and 9, 2023, in Kyiv, Lviv, Dnipro, and other cities, Israeli flags — symbols of solidarity, pain, and support — flew under the sounds of war sirens.

Today, two years later, Israel and Ukraine continue to fight common enemies — Russia and Iran, countries that support terrorism and violence. This parallel of pain and courage has united both peoples more strongly than any political declarations.

Ceremony participants

The memorial ceremony will feature:

historian Yechiel Fishzon, journalist Rostislav Goltzman, chief rabbi of the communities of progressive Judaism in Ukraine Alexander Dukhovny, executive director of the Zionist Federation of Ukraine Elena Zaslavskaya, press secretary of the World Movement “Beiteinu Olami” Levi Tabachnikov, as well as an anonymous Jewish warrior of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, whose name is not disclosed for security reasons.

Each of them will present their perspective on the events and the role of memory as a force capable of connecting different countries with one pain and one hope.

Ukraine and Israel: shared resilience

After October 7, Israel is once again experiencing its darkest days, but like Ukraine, it does not break. Both peoples have learned to live in a state of constant anxiety, continuing to love, create, work, and defend.
