The Israeli military has confirmed the killing of Mohammad Deif, a commander in Hamas' military wing, in an airstrike in the southern Gaza Strip. Deif's death was confirmed based on intelligence received within hours of the strike. He was killed on July 13 in the Khan Yunis area.
A few days later, on July 14, the IDF also confirmed the killing of Rafa Salameh, the commander of the Hamas Khan Yunis Brigade. However, information about Deif's involvement in the attack remained unclear. According to the military, intelligence indicated that Deif was with Salameh in the building that was hit, after which both were killed.
Defense Minister Yoav Galant noted that the elimination of Deif is an important step on the path to the destruction of Hamas. He also emphasized the precision of the operation and the role of intelligence in the successful elimination of targets. Galant expressed confidence that operations against Hamas terrorists will continue until the set goals are achieved.
