People were returning to Tire after a ceasefire agreement between Israel and Hezbollah came into effect in Lebanon. According to Reuters correspondents, cars carrying people were heading from the city of Sidon, south of Beirut, to areas of southern Lebanon.

Since the agreement took effect, shots have been heard throughout Beirut, but it is unclear whether the shooting was celebratory or used by the Israeli military to alert residents to evacuate.

According to a Nov. 19 report from Reuters, Lebanon and Hezbollah agreed to a U.S. ceasefire proposal with Israel, with some caveats on the content. On November 26, Israel and Lebanon agreed to a ceasefire, ending 14 months of fighting between Israel and Hezbollah.

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said it was a major breakthrough in efforts to prevent a wider war in the region and cited three main reasons for the ceasefire with Hezbollah in Lebanon – the threat from Iran, a respite and resupply of the military and separation of fronts.
