Chaplain of the Federation of Jewish Communities of Ukraine Yakov Sinyakov together with the chaplain of the National Guard of Ukraine visited Ukrainian defenders who returned from captivity. This was reported by the Federation of Jewish Communities of Ukraine on August 19, 2024 on his Facebook page.

The importance of such visits for the Jewish servicemen of Ukraine cannot be overestimated. In the conditions of war, when every day brings new challenges, spiritual support helps to maintain the inner core and faith. The presence of chaplains, especially those who share their faith, strengthens the sense of unity and belonging to the community, which is especially important at times when physical and moral strength is running low.

This support is also based on the shared historical connection between the Jewish and Ukrainian communities. For centuries, Jews and Ukrainians have lived side by side, experiencing both hardships and moments of prosperity. Today, when the Jewish and Ukrainian communities are united by a common goal – the defense of their country and freedoms – this connection becomes even more significant. In the current circumstances, chaplains play an important role in strengthening morale and maintaining a spiritual connection between these two communities, which have historically supported each other.
