The police rejected the Hadash party's application to hold an anti-war demonstration in Sakhnin and threatened the organizers with criminal liability if they held a march without permission. The application was submitted on January 1, and the response from the police arrived on Sunday. The document did not contain a single reference to laws.

The grounds for banning the demonstration were three points. Firstly, the police pointed out that Israel is in a state of war, and it is impossible to demand an end to the war during it. Secondly, the reason for the ban was the location of the highway passing through the city center, which is strategically important. Finally, police warned of expected inflammatory speech at the event.
