The Israeli Finance and Foreign Ministries will pay the Moldovan authorities 700 thousand shekels (about 200 thousand dollars) debt for last yearto ensure the passage of the Bratslav Hasidim into Ukraine on the eve of the Jewish New Year.
As reported by the Israeli news service “Kan Hadashot» August 29, 2024, the debt was incurred during the last Jewish New Year, when the Israeli government participated in organizing the pilgrimage and asked the Moldovan authorities to strengthen security measures at the Chisinau airport and border crossings.
Moldova's Chief Rabbi Pinchas Salzman called on the Israeli government to leave organizational issues to the local community this year and help only with financing, but so far Jerusalem has only found money to pay off last year's debt.

This amount is intended for “an action plan to provide assistance and ease delays at land border crossings for Israeli pilgrims to Uman.
This year, the Israeli Ministry of Finance and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs found a budgetary source to finance the payment of the debt to Moldova for services rendered to the Breslov Hasidim last year, so that Moldova would agree to allow pilgrims heading to Uman to pass through its territory this year as well.
A few days ago, after almost a year, during which Netanyahu and the President of Ukraine Vladimir Zelensky didn't communicate, the israeli prime minister called him and they had a conversation that was officially defined by the Prime Minister’s Office as “a conversation about the situation in the region.”
In fact, The central topic of the conversation was the question of the pilgrimage of the Breslov Hasidim to Uman, which is approaching. Coalition representatives, as every year, are pressuring Netanyahu to “resolve the difficulties” associated with the pilgrimage to Uman.
It is expected that about 50 thousand Bratslav Hasidim will travel to Uman via Moldova.
