The European Rabbinical Association postponed an important conference in Azerbaijan due to security concerns, after which Israel offered to host it.
Israel’s Minister of Diaspora Affairs, Nachman Shai, noted in his statement that Israel is ready to assist in organizing the conference. It is expected that the event, previously planned for next week in Baku, will now be held in Jerusalem.
The decision to move the conference was unexpected, as information about it appeared just a week before the event. An official CER spokesperson did not provide an immediate comment, but Shai’s statement confirmed that the relocation is related to security.
Future Plans
The organizers intend to hold the conference in November or as close to the original date as possible. The event is expected to be attended by hundreds of rabbis from dozens of Jewish communities around the world, highlighting its significance.
Minister’s Statement
Shai reported that the relocation of the conference for security reasons is a troubling signal for the Jews of Europe. He assured that Israel will do everything possible for the successful holding of this event on its territory.
