The Israel Defense Forces are actively preparing for possible operations in southern Lebanon. Special forces carry out targeted raids, collecting intelligence and conducting reconnaissance operations. During operations, they infiltrate tunnels belonging to Hezbollah militants along the Lebanese-Israeli border.

According to an article by The Wall Street Journal, such actions are part of Israel's strategy to weaken Hezbollah's military capabilities on the border with Lebanon.

Ground operations could change under US pressure to prevent a major invasion. According to Amir Avivi, a former senior military official, a ground invasion is imminent and the current raids are preparatory actions.
