Israel handled Hezbollah pager bombings without outside consultation – Axios.

Israeli authorities failed to warn the United States about an operation by their intelligence services to organize mass explosions of pagers used by the Lebanese group Hezbollah, Axios reports, citing two sources in the US administration.

An insider told reporters that the operation was approved earlier in the week at security meetings involving Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, members of his cabinet and heads of intelligence agencies.

This came a day after US Special Representative Amos Hochstein visited Israel, where he briefed Netanyahu on the consequences of the escalation in Lebanon.

Yesterday, there were explosions of communication devices used by Hezbollah fighters. There are dead and thousands injured. Hezbollah blamed Israel for this. Israeli authorities have not officially commented on the explosions.
