At a UN Security Council meeting on August 23, Israel's new ambassador, Danny Danon, gave a scathing speech, saying Israel was fighting a seven-front war against Iranian forces seeking to destroy it. He denounced the UN for its changes for the worse and highlighted his country's changes in policy since the war began.

The reaction to his speech was mixed: Security Council members, including Palestinian Ambassador Mansour, condemned Israel's actions in Gaza, accusing them of killing civilians. Mansour even called their actions genocide, to which Danon responded with sharp words, accusing him of supporting terrorism and calling him a “terrorist in a suit.”
