Iran is confident that the overthrow of the Assad regime was the result of a US-Israeli conspiracy, reports Reuters

Iran's Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei said today that the overthrow of Syrian President Bashar al-Assad was the result of a US-Israeli plan.

He also mentioned that one of Syria's neighbors also played a role, likely referring to Turkey.

Khamenei claims that everything that happened in Syria was planned in Washington and Tel Aviv, with the participation of the government of the neighboring country. Iran intends to continue cooperation with Damascus based on a reasonable and wise approach, and calls for the creation of a government that reflects all sectors of Syrian society.

Previously, Iran accused Ukraine of supporting rebels in Syria and called for an end to assistance to terrorists. Deputy Foreign Ministry of Ukraine Georgy Tikhy categorically rejected these accusations, believing that responsibility for the situation in Syria lies with the Assad regime, Moscow and Tehran.

Iran has also announced its intention to strengthen its alliance in the region, which could have an impact on the state of affairs throughout the region.
