Senior Iranian officials will meet today, Aug. 1, with representatives from regional allies Lebanon, Iraq and Yemen to discuss possible retaliation against Israel following the killing of a Hamas leader in Tehran, five sources said.
The region faces the threat of a widening conflict between Israel, Iran and its backers following the killing of Ismail Haniyeh in Tehran on July 31 and a senior Hezbollah commander in an Israeli strike on the outskirts of the Lebanese capital Beirut on July 30.
