According to information reported by CNN, Iran's mission to the United Nations said Israeli warplanes attacked several Iranian military and radar installations from Iraqi airspace, about 70 miles from the Iranian border.
The mission also accused the US of complicity in the Israeli attack, pointing out that “Iraqi airspace is under the occupation, command and control of the US military.” The US was reportedly warned of the strikes but was not directly involved in the attack. There was no official response from Iraq to this.
According to CNN, on the morning of October 26, the Israel Defense Forces (IDF) attacked Iran in response to a massive rocket attack on October 1. Explosions were heard in Tehran and the neighboring city of Karaj. Iran and Iraq closed their airspace due to the Israeli attack.
It is stated that the IDF has completed “surgical strikes” on military targets in Iran, and that Israeli aircraft have attacked production facilities used to make missiles launched towards Israel. The question of whether Israel used Iraqi airspace remains unanswered.
